Marola

The Marola are a group of amphibious humanoid people that can transform their body from the waist down between a fish-like tail and bipedal plantigrade legs. They live exclusively in the frozen waters to the north or on the small islands in the same area, namely the larger islands of Calato, Laria, and Naline. They were once believed to be large sea creatures and were captured and subsequently eaten by the various cultures that live in the northern areas of Hedaware, although it is now known that they are a sapient life form with their own cultures, languages, and constructions. They regard all other cultures with disdain and only permit them to visit one port city in Naline, as they do not trust them.
