Dream Realm

The dream realm is a realm slightly askew of the mortal realm that is visually similar to it in many ways. However, the dream realm is always cast in shadow and many people cannot see it in color.

The realm is accessed when someone falls asleep and begins to dream. While the realm looks very similar to the Mortalis, many things are different. It is not an exact copy, nor does it remain representative of a single point in time. One person may experience their home as it was many years before, while another may experience a different location that looks as it currently does. Things may regularly seem out of place or missing altogether, which can serve to inform a particularly lucid individual that they are indeed asleep.

Moreover, physical limitations in the dream realm are different that those in reality. An individual may be able to fly when they cannot while awake, run much faster than usual, or perform a skill that they do not have. As a generally safe place, the realm is contrasted by the Umbrashroud, the realm of nightmares lorded over by Nyxal.
