Adawe
Adawe is the mystical essence wrought from Celestia that enables living things to use magic. Some people are born with quite a lot adawe, being exceptionally gifted in magic and able to pick up new things quickly. Others, however, may be born with little to none, blocking them from ever using magic. While it is extremely rare for someone to have absolutely no adawe, it is also rare for someone to have an exceptionally large amount as well. It is more common for people to have an average amount, enabling them to practice magic effectively without it being overwhelming. Some may have slightly more than average or slightly less than average. Those with more tend to have an easier time with magical practices, while those with less may still do magic but will have struggles as it does not flow through them properly.

Adawe is the part of a living creature, including plants, animals, and people, that can be harnessed to create many different forms of magic. Everything is born with a specific level of adawe, which they can use throughout their lives to perform spells, enchantments, and many other forms of magic. It cannot, however, be used to perform Harmonics.
Origin
It is believed that adawe came from Celestia, falling to Zyrkthraan in orbs of magic, where various groups picked them up and absorbed the power. It is thought that those who have more adawe had ancestors who sought out the adawe to absorb it, while those who have very little are thought to have ancestors who avoided the adawe altogether. While the true origins of adawe aren't known by the mortals, it still plays a very large role in their societies.
In Media
Adawe exists within every living thing, so it is ever-present within the stories. However, there are times when adawe holds importance:
- In Chapter 3, when discussing why Calen is bad at magic
- In Chapter 5, when Rhzoreck explains to Calen how Harmonic magic works
- In Chapter 8, when describing the components for an automalian
- In Chapter 9, when describing the type of enchantment the duke requested
- In Chapter 10, when Rhzoreck explains to Amaeus how Harmonic magic works
- In Chapter 19, when discussing the Duuema people's view of other magics
- In Chapter 21, when describing the enchantments on Rendan
- In Chapter 23, when referring to a decorative element at the University
- In Chapter 25, when describing the enchantments on the Echoblade
