Profile

Calen is a young man that lives in Shitaovriki with his father. While he doesn't hold a job of any sort, he has a keen interest in learning the way of the sword. His biggest inspiration is his mother, although she unfortunately passed away when he was fifteen. He spends most of his days assisting his father with research, relaxing around Chengstein Keep, or occasionally practicing his combat skills.

Background

Calen was born in Shitaovriki to Omaeris and Eilora Ahlimora, the former being the court mage of the city and the latter being the personal bodyguard of the reigning duke. Despite being raised among the Fjallmenn people his entire life, his parents ensured that he knew where he came from. Because of this, he did not grow up forming strong bonds with the other children in the area. Instead, he felt as if he was in a bubble, separated from the others while still surrounded by them. This led to him not having many friends, with those he did have slowly drifting away when it was clear that he couldn't relate to them. He learned to lean on his mother for emotional support, his father being a bit distant as he was focused on his work, which only led to trouble when she was unexpectedly killed when he was thirteen. Without his mother to support him, he was forced to go to his father for support, although that proved to be fruitless. It wasn't until Amaeus offered to let him train in swordplay with his mercenary, Caliph, that he began to cope more positively with the loss of his mother. Even still, he continued to struggle with his lack of friends, constantly wishing that he had taken more time to connect to the people he was raised around.

The Harmonic Era

During the Harmonic Era, Calen's life was disrupted when a strange visitor, Rhzoreck, arrived in Shitaovriki. At first, he was cautious of this new person, especially since he seemed to be a bit insane. However, after bringing him to his father, who brought in Amaeus, he learned that Rhzoreck was not insane but was truthful in that he was the last Duuema alive. He wasn't here for entertainment, though, as he had come specifically to gain information and assistance. Calen was invited to help him in certain regards, and learned that he had an affinity for building automalia. While building one such creature by Rhzoreck's direction, he grew attached to his work and pleaded with the other man to keep it for himself. That was permitted, and so he welcomed Calen Junior, a mechanical chichlin, into his life.

It was not long before he realized that he enjoyed helping Rhzoreck with technology far more than he ever enjoyed practicing magic with his father or struggling with his swordsmanship. While this gave him a tinge of regret, as he did not see this new interest being of any use, he couldn't help but to be proud of himself for his sudden accomplishments. He would continue to assist Rhzoreck, finding a strong friendship with the other man along the way. By the time Rhzoreck needed to leave to test his theories and hopefully bring back the Duuema, Calen was fully prepared to finish up the small tasks in Vouukjng-zel that remained all on his own. One of these tasks was to use an arcanilex within the Vouukjng-zel library. Despite his best efforts, he only barely missed his chance to use the device before the halls were full of ancient people once again. Knowing that he couldn't stay any longer, he rushed out of the city to inform his father of what had transpired.
