Profile

Omaeris Ahlimora is an Aurilore wizard that serves as the court mage for Shenska Tijing, the duke of Shitaovriki. While he currently lives in Anhres, he originally resided in Halia.

Omaeris was born in Halia during the Harmonic Era and spent most of his younger years there. He began studying magic at a young age, like many Aurilore, but was never considered particularly gifted with any particular discipline. Instead of choosing one discipline to focus in, he decided to dabble a little in everything, which gave him a good foundation for many different magic-oriented jobs.

The Harmonic Era

Despite not having much interest in foreign lands, Omaeris decided to move to Anhres on the recommendation of one of his magic professors. Having never been to the province before, he found it a bit difficult to get around and find work. Given a shortage of employment in Verdishang where he initially landed, he decided to move to other cities in search of work. He took odd-jobs in various cities before finding himself in Shitaovriki, where he was offered the position of court mage to the resident duke, Shenska Tijing. Seeing a chance for steady employment and believing that he would have some political sway in such a high position, he accepted and started working for the duke immediately.

Unfortunately, the position was not up to his expectations in the least. The Fjallmenn in the city, including the duke, seemed to only rely on him for the most basic of magical things. He was limited in what he was permitted to research and what magic he was allowed to perform. He grew to dislike his position and sought to leave it, but he was required to find a replacement before he could do so. He asked many people, including the famous scholar Amaeus Lorendil, but no one was willing to take over his duties. So, he was forced to stay the court mage.

Things started to look up a bit when his older sister wrote to him to ask if he would take on her son, Elianthial, as his apprentice. Seeing an opportunity to get someone to take his position as the court mage, he accepted her proposition and soon his nephew was working alongside him in his laboratory. Around this time, Duke Shenska hired a new bodyguard, Eilora Caistalia. Omaeris' attentions were immediately drawn to her and he became fixated on her to the point that he began neglecting his duties. He could easily build the confidence to speak to her about matters of the court, but he struggled to make any romantic moves toward her. Luckily, Caliph, Amaeus' hired muscle, was more than happy to write him a bit of poetry to give to her to show his affections. The poem worked, and once the ice was broken, the two pursued a romantic relationship.

It wasn't long before they decided to marry, and Omaeris nearly forgot that he was seeking a way out of his position as the court mage. He still utilized Elianthial as an apprentice, but he no longer desired to quit his job and start wandering in search of a new one. They welcomed their son, Calen, into their lives after a short time. Unfortunately, only about 20 years after their son was born, an attack on the city occurred and resulted in Eilora's death. With her loss, Omaeris became a sour man and wanted once again to quit his job and move somewhere less hostile, like returning to Halia.

Major Events

The Great Siege

During the Great Siege of Shitaovriki, Omaeris worked to defend Chengstein Keep from the invading Soulbonded militia. He used his mastery of magic to keep the majority of the force from getting deeper into the keep, although some individuals did make their way through. He fought alongside many others in the keep, including his wife, Eilora, who died during the battle. Upset that his beloved wife was killed, he blamed her demise on the fact that she was overly concerned with the safety of their son, Calen, who was conveniently in a much safer part of the keep at that time. Omaeris believed that she was too distracted over worrying for him that she was not paying enough attention to the battle she was in, leading to her death. Because of this belief, he began treating Calen coldly, having decided that he would have been happier if his son had died instead of her.
