Shadow:Nightmares
Nyxal was the very first Skia Veldrane. You did not know that yet, did you? Perhaps there are secrets within these pages after all. Alas, we are at the end. You have come so far and yet gained so little. Now we are within a realm of which there is no return, a realm that will stay with you even after you finally wake. Nightmares, that is what Nyxal lords over. The sort of things that haunt you while you're awake and devour you while you sleep. I do not think anyone is immune to them, not entirely.
Nightmares could be considered something that could be entirely done without, do you agree? A person could live their entire life and not be missing anything by not having nightmares. But maybe, just maybe, nightmares serve a greater purpose. What could that possibly be? I hear you wondering. How could something that only brings stress and terror be good in any way? Ah, you must think on it. If a pleasant dream shows you things that you have experienced through the day in a peaceful way, a nightmare does the opposite. Your mind must take time to parse the information that you have received during the time you were awake, correct? Not everything is flowers and rainbows, is it?
Nightmares take the more frightening things you have encountered and presents them back to you to encourage you to think on how to deal with them. Have you ever gone a bit without brushing your teeth, although you know that you should? And then you have a dream where your teeth are all falling out, because your subconscious mind knows that poor dental hygiene could cause you to lose those precious teeth. Then, possibly, you wake up and have a determination to brush your teeth, as you would rather not lose them all. It is the same with all nightmares, if you think on it. Nightmares make you think, make you suspicious, make you take action when you may not have without them. This is good.
