Abtherek Clan
The Abtherek clan, called the Bthrek clan in modern times, is a subculture of the Duuema that specializes in both politics and technological development. It has existed since the Exordium and has been around as long as the other three primary clans, however, unlike the Kraginth and Roketh clans, the Abtherek have never ventured outside the bounds of Vethrala.
The Abtherek clan was founded by Kavvjng Abtherek and led by him for many hundreds of years. Upon his sudden disappearance sometime in the Exordium, his son Astherek took over leadership of the clan. From the time it was founded to the modern age, the Abtherek have disallowed individuals from other clans or heritage from joining the clan. They pride themselves on their homogeneous nature and typically hold great disdain for others outside their clan.
The Abtherek clan is considered the most traditional of the Duuema clans. The members are, by and large, staunchly conservative and believe that the established social castes should remain intact. Since they are the primary members of the government and claim the king as one of their own, it is difficult for other clans to push back against their antiquated ideas and enact forward-thinking change across the society. Because of the stranglehold they maintain over the political realm, they have made it increasingly difficult for those of other clans to "break the norms" and be successful in areas other than the one they were born into. To this end, children of Kraginth merchants tend to become merchants themselves, the same as how children of Roketh soldiers find themselves joining the military or becoming armorers. The Abtherek take particular issue with the Abstuutha, who they see as vastly inferior to themselves and the other two "noble" clans, the Kraginth and the Roketh, and have developed policies that lower the quality of life for Abstuutha people and restrict them from engaging in matters belonging to other clans.
