Shadow:Conflict

Conflict, one of the few things that Nalieth sees no need for. He needs a change of perspective too, doesn't he? You and I know that conflict is the spice of life. If everything went flawlessly every time, nothing would be very fun. Morovath doesn't simply lord over petty arguments or the act of someone stabbing another in the back with a pointy piece of metal. No, of course not. He isn't so shallow.

Conflict is so multifaceted. Conflict is when you try a new skill and struggle at first. That is the conflict between you and your physical or mental limitations. Perhaps a conflict against nature, depending on the activity. Conflict is when you have plans to tend the garden, but the skies pour out and prohibit you from doing so. Conflict is challenge, the sort that you know you can overcome if only you do something differently. Conflict is when someone else doesn't like you, or when your mother tells you to wash the dishes when you're busy, or when you twist your ankle doing something completely mundane.

Without conflict, life would be exceptionally dull. Imagine, if everything was easy for you at all times, what reason would there be for you to keep trying? To keep going? No reason at all. You could pick up a new instrument and play it flawlessly with no effort. Then you would set it down, knowing that you have no more to improve upon. There would be no need for teachers, for lengthy schooling, for magic to be organized into disciplines. Everyone could do everything, the same as everyone else.

Perhaps there would be some specific method that was developed, where everyone would perform tasks in the same way. Perhaps this wouldn't even be thought of outright, as everyone would be on the same page already. No, I prefer conflict. I prefer that we all do things differently, in our own way. Even if many people would be considered outcasts for their methods.
