Shadow:Destruction

Destruction, that's something that we could do without, isn't it? No, actually, I don't think so. Sure, there are times when destruction is bad. Perhaps a fire burned down a house, leaving the residents without anywhere to go and stealing their possessions as well. Perhaps it was something more minor, like someone accidentally ruining your favorite sweater by putting it in the dryer. Surely, those times are when destruction is bad. But, are those times not the times of conflict I mentioned earlier? And we've already discussed how useful conflict is, haven't we?

Destruction is what occurs due to conflict, whether it is the destruction of your viewpoint, destruction of your possessions, or destruction of a social relationship. It is not often that we associate destruction with something good, but indeed it does happen. If not for a wildfire destroying a forest, new plants could not grow. That person showing you their true colors, that they were always a poor friend, and destroying your relationship, opens the door for you to form better relationships. Holding onto the old even after it no longer brings good things is never wise. Thus, we destroy those things. Whether on purpose or by accident, the things that no longer serve us are culled and replaced by things that are much better.

As Umbrex teaches, Destruction of what does not help us leads to renewal. In your land, certainly you have heard the story of the phoenix? It was destroyed, but rose again in an even more powerful form. This is what destruction is for. Out with the old, in with the new. Destroy what is to welcome what's new. It isn't so bad then, is it? Once you shed the things that do not serve you, you will gain many things that do. Do not worry, though. It is normal to fret over the loss of what was.
